If you suspect you have a voice problem…
If you suspect you have a voice problem, the first thing you need to do is see a GP or Doctor if the issue doesn’t resolve in two weeks. In the meantime you should look at alternative ways of alleviating symptoms, especially if you are a professional voice user.
Book in with your GP
Reach out to your vocal coach / singing teacher
Book yourself in for some alternate treatment like Psychotherapy, Speech Therapy or Vocal Massage
Remember that not all singing teachers have the same skill sets, so you should look for one with Vocal Health First Aid as a minimum requirement.

Joint voice clinic
Another important consideration...
When you work with a singing teacher to rehabilitate your voice, it is important that they have clinical, pathological knowledge.
If a singing teacher does not or has not worked in a Joint Voice Clinic they may have gained their information from elsewhere with a theoretical underpinning of the information needed to help.
Lydia regularly attends the Joint Voice Clinic at Wexham Park Hospital with Mr Declan Costello, ENT.
“Lydia and I have worked jointly with many singers over the years. She is a wonderfully supportive and engaging teacher, and is hugely respected by her clients. She is a fantastic communicator with great musical instincts. It is a pleasure to work with her!”
– Mr Costello, ENT Consultant
